Thanks to those who responded to my post about 7dpo bloodwork. (https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/66183874.aspx) I'm still at a loss as to what to do. I think I'm going to call the doctor back and speak with her directly. I want to get her take on my levels as well (since I had spoken to the midwife at the practice and not the doc who ordered the bloodwork).
A couple more questions:
1. Did you fast before your progesterone test? I did not. I didn't realize I was supposed to, and my doctor didn't mention anything about it. In fact, I ate breakfast about 20 minutes before having my blood drawn. I read that eating can lower progesterone levels, so do you think I should have my levels tested again after fasting?
2. My doctor didn't mention anything about vaginal suppositories, but said I could pick up some over the counter progesterone cream. Has anyone used this? Is it as effective as the suppositories? I'm wondering why she didn't mention the suppositories as an option.
I'm just so frustrated. TTCAL aside, I want someone to tell me why I am bleeding for 7+ days before AF. And I don't think it's LPD because my temps remain elevated for 12ish days every cycle. UGH!!!
Re: More progesterone questions (sorry to beat a dead horse)
Fasting shouldn't matter at all. I always ate breakfast and then went to get my bloodwork done right before I went to work.
I don't know anything about the OTC cream but I'd personally ask for suppositories.
I personally think if you're spotting for 7 days before AF then it is a LPD, regardless of temps. You shouldn't have low progesterone and spotting.
Is there a specialist you can see? Or another doctor who might take your concerns seriously?

1. No, I never have, and no one has ever told me to.
2. I agree with PPs, you should get prescription (whether pills or suppositories). Using OTC cream isn't going to be as accurate of a dose, and I can't believe she suggested that.
3. I totally understand your frustration. I had/have spotting for 7-10 days before AF ever since my first miscarriage, and no one has figured out why. I ended up going on BCP for two months to try and reset my hormones, because my OB felt like maybe they were wacky from my losses and they could find no physical reason for my spotting. I have met a few other girls on the getting pregnant board on the nest who were also "professional spotters" with no explanation. I hope you get some answers. :-/
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
I've never fasted for progesterone. It shouldn't affect the results. I would look at changing doctors if I were you. I am not a doctor, but I have an LPD. Without treatment, I would spot for 5-7days before AF. My temps would not drop until the day before AF. I would be leery of any doctor that suggests an OTC cream. I would see if you could get into a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) for progesterone testing and treatment if you aren't having any luck with your OB. Good luck!

Siggy warning
I never heard of fasting and I didn't the 5 or so times I got my P4 tested.
The OTC cream is usually not even real P4--it is made from yams or something. I have never met anyone that has had success from OTC cream for TTC reasons.
Can you find a whole new practice hospital etc?
