what gives you relief?

i'm struggling... just one giant ball of discomfort. Please share what you relied on for relief from all the aches, and pains, and all the other un-fun baby brewing body changings that impacted you.

  • 32 weeks hit and I am a big, smoking pile of hot mess. I'll find random positions in bed that are ok, but I'm exhausted, weepy, and uncomfortable 97% of the time.

  • I just got a Boppy Wedge pillow and it has been really helpful! I can at least lay on my side and get kind of comfortable.

  • I could have wrote this post myself. It is becoming unbearable. Really the only time I'm comfortable is when I've given myself enough benadryl to sleep for a couple hours or when I float in the 2ft pool my dh put up for me. It's hard to think there could be 10 more weeks of this. All for a good cause though!

  • I agree about the recliner. We bought one for the nursery but I've been hanging out in it downstairs at night and it feels sooo good. Zero gravity!  I also sleep with a memory foam pillow in between my knees at night. It really reduces the pressure on my hips and back. Also, sit whenever you can, no matter where you are. I've started taking the motorized cart when I go to "big box" stores like Target and Sam's Club. It can turn what seems daunting into a breeze.

  • wear a support belt.  Go out and buy the ugliest sturdiest belt you can find :)  Sleep with pillows between your legs.  Get gentle relaxing massages.  Put your feet up, lay on the couch as often as possible.

  • Cold drinks. Cold showers. Benadryl at night so I could sleep. Silk nightgowns so I could easily flip over in the night. Sleeping whenever I could.

You and me both, sister.  I've got PUPPS too, so I'm itchy, bleeding, and scabby to top it all off.  I honestly wish I could just sleep through the next 6-8 weeks.

  • Various combinations of yoga, swimming (well, floating really), chiropractor visits, warm baths, heating pads. Nowadays, I sleep as much as I can, and always use a squishy pillow wedged under my hips and belly. It's the only way I can keep Baby B out of my ribs.

I think I'm nearing the point where nothing but delivery will make the assorted pains stop.

  • I am kicking myself for taking so long to get there but we have a hot tub (so we can control the temp) and I soaked in it twice today.  I haven't felt so wonderful in weeks.  I imagine swimming would have that same magical feeling (just being submerged in the water).  I almost started crying with happiness, and sad I now only have 5 days to utilize this slice of heaven.  I guess giving birth will make me feel better in a lot of ways but these last few weeks have been really uncomfortable.

And weirdly I also cry thinking about missing it all.  Apparently I get kinda emotional around 36-37 weeks haha.

  • i'm absolutely trying every suggestion!

For what it's worth... I didn't even make it through the day yesterday at my easy desk job. I went home and took a bath, then slept all afternoon until my husband came home with my daughter. I felt slightly better, but was back in bed by 8 pm when my daughter went to bed. Finally sleeping gave me some relief!!
