Jeep Liberty Owners/Britax Marathon Users

Have any of you with a Jeep Liberty have sucess installing a Britax Marathon into the middle seat? DHs friend (who claims to be certified in installing carseats...whatever that means) finally came by tonight to intall our convertable. I wasn't able to be out there with them as I was getting DS ready for bed. Anyway, he told DH that the Jeep Liberty doesn't allow installation in the middle so he put it on the right. It's also a bit crooked. So I'm not really happy about either of these situations. Of course DH can't find the owners manual for the Jeep! So I thought I would ask any of you ladies if you have any experience with this. TIA!

Re: Jeep Liberty Owners/Britax Marathon Users

  • I do not own a Jeep, but my friend does and I have installed hers for her several times. There is not a middle latch. We have a small SUV and can choose either side, but not middle. There is no middle latch system. It seems pretty common with a lot of vehicles.

Also, as long as you cant move it/shake it, you are fine. We take ours in and out all the time and depending on how it is sitting on the seat, will depend on if it comes out a little bit crooked.

If you are concerned about it, swing by the fire department and ask them to check it out.

I am going to venture a guess and say it is fine...

  • I have a Jeep Liberty, but have a Britax Boulevard.  In our Jeep there is no middle latch, only on the outer seats.  Technically you could latch it by using the outer latches from either seat, but proper installation is on either passenger or driver's side back seats.  That's what my owner's manual showed.
