Does your kiddo do ok on grass?

I think N hates it really.  If you plunk him down in the yard on his butt, he won't move.  If you stand him there, he'll try and sit without putting his hands on the grass.  If you put him down in crawl position, he'll get up on his feet and one hand and be super hesitant about putting the other hand down.  He reminds me of a cat on aluminum foil.  What is up with this?  Do your kids do this?  I sure hope he gets over it!

  • My DD loathes grass! If you go to put her down on it standing her legs go up like she's a gymnast.  It's pretty comical.  We had her 1 year pics done and she kept falling over b/c she was lifting her legs up and  she didn't want to put her hand on the grass to support herself.  I keep trying to expose her to it so that she comes around.

She also did it this weekend at the pool for the first time...didn't want to touch the concrete edge with her hands and was hesitant with the concrete ground.  Glad I am not the only one!

Cat on aluminum foil is the perfect description!!!!

  • DS hates the grass but sadly he isn't as comical as your LOs. He screams bloody murder.  His 1 year pics will have to be indoors; his 9 month pics were outside and he screamed the entire time (9 month pic in siggy...thank God for photoshop).  We went to the beach last week and he was fine with sand.  But concrete, grass? Nope.
  • hates it!! if i set him on his butt, even in pants but with bare feet, he tries to lift his feet off the grass and screams the entire time. the positive: if i set him on a blanket on the grass he won't crawl off of it :)

  • DD used to do the same type of things but now I can't keep up with her on the grass. It doesn't bother her one bit!! I kinda miss being able to put her there and have her stay still : )

  • E hated it at first. She would flip out when I put her down. But now she loves it and has no problem playing, crawling etc in it.

This, exactly!  I love that he stays on the porch because he doesn't like the feel of the grass.

  • My LO has always been the opposite, he'll pull up the blanket to get to the grass and dirt. Definitely not a pack n play!

Is it bad that my first thought from the title was 'well I think it's a little early o introduce drugs, :-b

  • Emma was like that for about a month and I thought it was really fun to watch. Made a great baby sitter too so since she was afraid to move. Now she'll still sometimes sit there with one foot up in the air but it won't stop her from moving anymore. He'll get used to it eventually.

Yes This exactly!  When I need a break from chasing him around the house we go outside because I know he won't leave the blanket!

  • M was like this at first but after about half a dozen times or so, he will crawl on it now.

  • C was like that at first. If I set him on grass, he'd just stand there and look at me like wth is this, mom??  He wouldn't take a step. He's over it now. Doesn't even pause.

this is our situation too.  dd2 loves grabbing handfuls of grass, and then they go right into the mouth.

  • Liam did at first, now he doesn't care at all (which resulted in a filthy baby over the weekend when I couldn't keep him on the blanket I had spread out, but oh well).  Now my older son HATED the grass.  Pretty much just froze up, like N.  wouldn't move, wouldn't play, would just sit there looking scared to death. He's 4 now, and eventually he got over it :)
