The pedi and allergist have both said 1/2 tsp but that seems like a lot. We've been giving him 1/4 tsp....
Severe MFI resulting in IVF/ICSI #1 in Nov 2007. BFP!! Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
DD is a little over 12lbs. The allergist dosed her according to her weight and we were told to give 1.5ml. But I only give 1ml and that seems to do the trick.
DS is 22 lbs and we give him 3/4 tsp. This is the recommended dosage.
This. DS is 24 lbs and gets 3/4 tsp as well. I just called the nurse line to verify the dosage tonight. She said that from 25 - 37 lbs is 1 tsp. (This is a 12.5 mg / 5 ml suspension).
Of course, I'd verify with your doctor. Mine is very strict on giving Benadryl.
Our son is 27 lbs and we only give him 3/4 tsp. Our pedi said that up to 1/2 tsp is okay, but when we have had to give him benadryl, he is usually pretty drowsy when he only has 3/4 tsp. I would go with my instinct, as long as you are not increasing the dosage. Good Luck!
