low-lying placenta - feeling baby?

For those with a low-lying placenta, when did you first feel baby move?  I am 21 weeks and haven't felt anything, except maybe some muscle twitch type feelings but nothing I am sure is baby.  The doctor said I may feel it later than others due to the low-lying placenta, but I am getting anxious.

  • Even with this being my 2nd, I still didnt feel movement until about 19-20 weeks due to the low lying placenta. However, I knew what to look for also (this being DC #2) but hang in there, it shouldnt be too much longer!

I am 22 weeks now, and feeling very strong movement. DH can feel it on my belly as well.

  • I'm in my 21st wk and I just found out that I have a low lying placenta.  I actually felt the first flutter at 16wks.  Now, I still feel alot but not all the time only certain times of the day. No worries, you'll feel it  :)
  • I'm 20 wks now, and I have felt very little movement. I don't know if I have a low-lying placenta (will find out on tues), but I just thought I'd let you know you're not alone in the lack of movement dept. The couple times I have felt movement have been during the day for less than 10 min, and after I felt it I might not feel anything for days or even a week.

Hope we feel more soon! :)?

  • You are fine! Baby could be facing your back and you would not feel kicks as much either. I had a Placenta Previa, but I do not think it changed how I would have felt baby. I also did not really feel movement consistently until after I was 23-24 weeks. There would be days when I would not feel as much. By 28-29 weeks you should feel movement everyday. I also noticed that Nolan slept A LOT when he was born, which explained his sluggishness in-utero!
