How long did it take for you to move into your home?

From the moment you found the house you wanted to buy, how long did it take, with applications and making offers and approval and everything, until you were able to move into your home?

I tried posting on thenest, but for some reason it wouldn't post.

  • 8 weeks, we had to wait for the inspection, our guy was booked out pretty far due to the tax rebate the year we purchased.

  • About 6 weeks.

The house was vacant, so the bank approval of our loan was the longest holdup (during the end of the housing rebate as well, so they were backlogged).

Our closing was 60 days.  We ended up moving in 2 days before that because we were going to be homeless and the seller was kind enough to let us move in early!  We had a VA approved loan and I guess they are usually 60 days.
  • We are in the process right now! So Once the final offer was negotiated And signed there is a 30 day period for inspections and bank approval. Hopefully we dont have any hold ups with our conventional loan. :)
  • a week or two? The previous owners were both deceased so it was move in ready, and their children were willing and able to sign over the house very quickly. They accepted our first offer so that helped.
