Registry question...

Ladies I was thinking of going for my baby shower about two mths after baby is born. Some of my family wants me to have a registry ready like now, instead of months from now. So im thinking of having a registry open (and letting everyone know) and telling them when i go to Cali  (i live out of state) we will have a meet baby party type thing... Is anyone else doing this. Trust me i would love to go before then, however due to financial reasons there is no way we could :( so just wondering who else is in the "out of state/baby shower predicament" ? Hope all is well! TIA

I went back to Maryland a couple weeks ago (from San Diego) for my shower.  Most guests shipped us larger items from our registry and gave me smaller, easily transportable gifts at the shower.

If I were you I would put a registry together, then inform people where you're registered when they ask.  I found that my amazon.com registry worked great for out-of-town people because there is free shipping and no tax.

BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks) BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy) BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy) BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12) BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)

  • I'm having a baby shower after baby is born with my out of town family to meet baby.  I'm having a couple showers before baby is born so I already registered.

  • We are going back to CT in June for my Shower, and then just a quick weekend in November so my mom can meet baby (she can't afford to fly down really, and this makes it so my friends can meet baby too!). I did consider waiting and doing a meet the baby type shower too, but I've been super homesick lately, and really just needed a pick me up...honestly that's the only reason we are doing it before!

  • So you ladies think its an ok idea? Do i let everyone know this is the plan? I know a lot of my fam wants to help, and i would rather have the things i need before and during first few mths of baby than not put them on registry and have to buy them myself.

  • We are having a sip and see about 8 weeks after the baby is born. People don't really have to bring anything unless they want to because they didn't come to the shower or what ever. My shower is not this coming  sunday but next sunday and due to a good number of my guest list being out of town guests I am not really expecting many people. But they will be invited to the sip and see after the baby is born anyways. Don't know if this helps  but hope so

This. We're going to Florida for my shower and to see my family next week and my Amazon registry has been great. A few people have already sent gifts directly to us, and I've been registry stalking and have noticed small, easily transportable things have been bought off my Buy Buy Baby registry. My BFF who is the hostess, and my aunt have been great about reminding the guests that I'll be traveling from out of state and can only bring back small things that will fit in a suitcase and that we'd prefer things be shipped directly to us. As I said, Amazon has been invaluable in this, especially with the free shipping and no tax.
