hCG levels ?

As some of you know, I have been having problems with my hCG dropping really slow.  Here is a brief history:

03/30/12- Diagnosed with a missed miscarriage hCG levels-155,200

04/01/12- Cytotec to induce miscarraige

04/09/12- hCG 1006

04/18/12- hCG 796

04/25/12- hCG 777

05/02/12 - hCG 741

05/09/12- hCG 862

05/16/12- D&C

05/21/12- hCG 463

My question is since my D&C on 05/16 I have been taking pregnancy tests to see if my hCG has dropped below 5 before inbetween blood draws because I am impatient.  The positive line has gotten lighter and lighter each time until two days ago.  Two days ago the line came up really dark.  I thought that was because I tested earlier then the other days so last night I took another around the usual time I have been taking them and still dark.  My question is do you think this could mean my hCG levels rose again?  There is zero chance of me being pregnant.  I have not had sex since the D&C.  I go again today for a blood draw but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts?  Anything will help.

    If they are possibly rising that is not good.  It could be a sign of retained pregnancy tissue.  When is your next blood draw?

    Ugh--no idea.  I hope it was a fluke thing and that your levels are dropping :(  I know how frustrating it is to wait for them to get back to zero

    That is odd for sure. May need an ultrasound to make sure everything is cleared out. Sorry, that must be frustrating to not be able to move on.

    I'm sorry for your loss. After my D&C it took about 4.5 weeks for the tests to come up negative. There are several reasons why your test got darker.

    1) You could have retained tissue. 

    2) There could be a different concentration of dye from test to test.

    3) It could just be taking a while for your body to get rid of the hCG.

    Either way, I would put a call in to the OB unless you have a follow up appointment soon. My OB didn't follow my betas down to <5 so I had to POAS semi-regularly. I know how much it sucks to keep seeing BFPs when you know you're not pregnant.

    Thanks ladies for your thoughts.  Prior to my D&C, I had an ultrasound to see if the could see any retained tissue but the could not.  The had to actually go in to find it, so I don't think a ultrasound would hlep now.  I got my blood drawn today.  So I hoping to have the results by lunch tomorrow.  I have no idea what the next step would be if it went up! Hopefully, they have continued to drop.  It just really scares me to see it so dark two months from the beginning of the m/c.  I am so ready to see AF!
