Re: Separation Anxiety Poll - what would you do?

  • I'm sure most people are going to say go, BUT I would also consider your level of enjoyment at the wedding.  I am a dweller, I dwell on things like no other (rational or not) and I would feel trapped on a boat worrying about my kid. (Even though in all reality he will be with your mom and be perfectly safe)  It's just my nature.  If that's the type of person you are, then stay home because I wouldn't anticipate the wedding being much fun.

If however you are not crazy like I am, know that this too shall pass and go and have a good time! Hope that helps!  I think the answer ultimately depends on your personality and ability to let things go for the moment.

  • A wedding nearby, absolutely go.

On a boat where there's no turning back... hellz to the no!  Not even for me, and I don't have babies with SA.  I just wouldn't be comfortable with that.

I agree with this completely! The first thing I thought was being trapped on a boat thinking about my baby screaming....not fun!

  • Since you aren't able to go home if you need to, I would not be going!

  • Thanks for your input ladies!

eatmorecupcakes - I agree with what you said, I just find myself torn between being crazy and just going for it. In addition, I feel like I am starting to resent my DH for getting to go out and do things. But then I feel awful for going and leaving DS at home crying. It's really a lose lose in my eyes. :(

  • I voted go.  After reading the votes, if you do go, remind your mom not to call good or bad.  That way you won't have your night ruined by 1: hearing LO cry over the phone or 2: your mom not calling and you just interpreting that to mean things aren't well. So no call either way is better.

  • You never know with babies. One minute they're freaking out because you have left them and the next they're fine. But, being on a boat and not able to jump to the rescue if your LO is completely flipping out isn't fun either. I voted "go" because I thought that if I hadn't been out since j was born I wouldn't be as good of a mommy. You don't want to feel resentful of your DH either. But, you'll be on a boat and not able to come home early. Maybe skip this wedding then try starting small.

What are the hours of the boat??

we did a boat wedding and the actual cruise was only 2 hours, then it was docked for the rest of the night. I know some couples opt. to do that as it is more convienent for the guests..

Boat hours are 7-11, then they dock til midnight. I've decided to go. It won't be easy, but I need to do it. Once DS is in bed at 8 I will be able to enjoy myself and have a good time.... I hope!

Thanks for the help everyone! Wish me (and more so my LO luck)!
