moms of boys..summer clothes

I went through all of D's old summer stuff.   i thought I wouldn't need to buy much...wrong.   D was almost 1.5 for his 2nd summer and was a solid walker.   Most of his stuff was t shirts and shorts.  No tanks tops...I liked short sleeved shirts so I had less skin to put sunscreen on.

Now, A is walking some but he still crawls more than half of the time and still gets carried around quite a bit.  I'm not a fan of tshirts when kids need to be carried because I hate how they ride up when you pick them up.   Bodysuits/onsies with shorts  seem too hot.   I thought I had more rompers/one piece type outfits in 18-24 month but I don't.    So I'm picking up some more.   JC Penny's had them for $4 and I got several at the mall near me.   We're going to another mall about 20 minutes away to get some more.

What is in your little guy's summer wardrobe?

$4 rompers at JCP?  How long ago was this?

Also it gets way hot here and I am using onsies with shorts. He has about 30 onsies that fit and 20 shorts.  That should get us to winter.  I hate hate t-shirts for the same exact reasons you mentioned.

  • C is pretty much a pro-walker, so I don't know if that makes much of a difference, but his wardrobe is mostly shorts and t-shirts or polo style shirts.  I think onesies look too babyish on him and I am not a fan of the one piece outfits.  guess I'm not that mush help :)

  • We primarily put him in t-shirts and shorts.  I also don't like how they ride up, but they're SOOO much easier to put on my monkey!

ETA: I also rarely put him in onesies anymore.  He's not huge, but a little bigger, and with all of his hair he looks a lot older than he is, so I feel like he doesn't look "right" in onesies, if that makes sense.  He does wear them though if it's too hot for much more.  At least around the house.

  • Mainly onsies, shorts and short sleeve t shirts.

  • Mostly shorts and tshirts.  Both DH and I dislike anything with crotch snaps.  DS is super squirmy and it's just too frustrating for all of us to try to snap something.  We've been using non-onesie shirts since about 3 months.  Additionally, with CD's he has outgrown the width of the booty and length of the shirt long before the shoulders.  He looks silly having huge shoulders just to accommodate the length.

  • We have a lot of onesies and shorts and 1 piece outfits. I agree he's starting to look a little too old for the style, but they're easier and comfortable. I'm keeping him in his baby clothes all summer!
  • N is a shorts and t-shirt guy.  He lives in them.

  • DS wears shorts and a t shirt just about everyday with the occasional romper maybe once every 2 weeks. I'd put him in rompers more often but I have to buy some bigger ones. I'm not a big fan of onesies with shorts but a few of the outfits I got him from Carter's are 3 piece sets, onesie, t shirt, and shorts, so he does wear that every once in a while. Oh and DS isn't walking yet.

  • DS is living in sleeveless rompers this summer. It's just so hot that I can't even imagine having to make him wear sleeves! Although it's a good thought that sleeves = less sunscreen, hadn't thought of that.  And anything, I think rompers are adorable.

C isn't a walker yet, but the rest of this applies. I don't like onesies after about 9-10M old and I don't like the one piece outfits on boys. Personal preference. He wears shorts and tees whenever we go out. If we're just at home he's mostly just in his CD.

They had them on Sat and I went to a different one today.   It's the Okie Dokie brand.   A whole bunch of them have been marked down to $4.   The newer styles are $7.   I also picked up a 2 pack of carter's rompers for $12.    Summer wardrobe is now complete!
