December 2011 Moms

Recommend your baby sunblock.

We took C to the pool today and even with slathering her up multiple times, she still managed to get a little pink on her shoulders and back of her neck. We live in South Florida so the sun is HOT and strong.

What have you found to work the best? We were using BabyGanics but I'm obviously going to need something stronger.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks, ladies. Smile

We use the same.  I think it's Pure and Gentle.  It's a pink and white bottle.  DS has very sensitive skin and this doesn't give him any sort of reaction.  I am in Illinois, but it has been hot here lately and no pink/redness for my little guy when we are outside.

We also used the Neutrogena one. I also live in Florida and it has worked well for us. We don't stay out very long though... It's too hot!

  • Think Baby.

It is the best brand I have came across so far and I even use it on myself :)

  • I am going to use the California Baby sunblock. . .I think. I've been having to keep her covered up during our walks, I hope we can make it until 6 months without sunblock.

  • Another vote for the Neutrogena Pure and Free---the lotion, not the stick. Its a 60.

Ditto this. We are in southeast MI and it was 90 degrees today and no pinkness or bad reaction.

  • I plan on using California Baby but I also got her a bathing suit top that is long sleeves and a hat that blocks the rays. The rays are too strong in Georgia to not be covered up somewhat.

Yet another vote! It works great on DS' sensitive, fair skin (which he inherited from me, sadly.) One time I forgot my own sunscreen and used his, and it's the first time I've ever been in the sun that long without burning. That stuff is magic.

If you haven't already, you should check out the Environmental Working Group's website for their 2012 sunscreen ratings. I use the ratings every year to make my decision.

  • Another neutrogena pure & free user. We have only used it a few times and ended up keeping him mostly covered anyway.

  • I used the website EWG to decide and we are using Coppertone water babies pure and simple...it rated 2, which is good. It worked great on our cruise last weekend...
  • We also use the Neutrogena. It works great, we were out on the lake for about 5 hours saturday with no shade and she didnt even get the slightest bit pink. I just made sure I re-applied it once an hour because I was so paranoid.
