Pregnant after a Loss

Pregnant again after 3 losses

Hi ladies! I'm new here and in need of some support.  I am currently 7w2d pregnant and extremely nervous/scared.  I have had three previous losses, two being chemical pregnancies and one at 6 weeks when there was no heartbeat seen.  This time I went in for an u/s at 6w4d and saw a perfect beating heart at 130bpm.  This is a huge milestone for me and I thought it would ease my mind alot, but now I'm worrying myself sick that when I go back in a couple weeks there wont be a heartbeat anymore. I'm pretty sure the risk of miscarriage goes down some when a heartbeat is seen but I have seen so many stories of women this has happened to.  How do you deal with the stress and anxiety? I really am making myself sick with worry. Sad I could use some advice if anyone has any. Thanks, and best wishes to everyone!

  • First: congrats!! Second: I totally understand how you feel...you poor thing, it's so tough being terrified. Third: I'm no doc- but I really think you can have hope that things will work out!! Once you see HB on U/S you're chances significantly are reduced! Best of luck.

  • Congratulations!!!  I hope everything goes well for you this time around.  I can completely relate to the fear of m/c, even after seeing the hb.  My last pg (which was also my first), we saw the hb at 6w4d.  When we went for the NT scan (11w4d), the hb was gone.  I don't have my 1st us until June 12th, so needless to say I am very nervous & scared.  How I have been getting through the wait is to keep myself occupied.  Positive thoughts help also, but the preoccupation is key.  I'm just trying to do everything I can to help LO along & pray for the best.  Once again, congratulations!

  • Congratulations and welcome! My heart goes out to you for your losses. I wish that I had some magical advice for you, but I don't. If I've learned anything from the ladies around here, it is that you can't "worry a pregnancy healthy." The mantra around here is "Today I am pregnant, and I love my baby." Sometimes it helps to say it out loud, and sometimes it is really getting through minute by minute.(((Hugs))) and FX that this is your sticky rainbow!!

  • Welcome and congrats! I'm sorry for your losses. Being pregnant is scary, especially after loss; so much is out of our control. You know now that 1) you are not having another chemical pregnancy, and 2) you do not have a blighted ovum. Since those are two significant causes of early loss, I think you're right to feel comfort from getting to the point you're at -- a baby with a beating heart! Yay! My advice is to not search for potential problems (ie, don't google "things that can go wrong in pregnancy,"), but just know when to call the doctor (in first trimester, bleeding, significant pain, *maybe* sudden loss of symptoms but know that that happens a lot when everything is fine). Otherwise, go forward assuming everything will be ok. Worrying does nothing to help you or your baby. It's so hard, but everyone here is going through/has gone through the worry and stress. I like to read the birth stories to see the babies that come from this board. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Congrats and welcome to PgAL! It's a tough ride, but you can do it!  There are many women here who have experienced multiple losses and are currently pregnant and progressing well, or even have their rainbow babies already!  GL to you and your LO!
