Bleeding disorder & IVF??

Hey Ladies, 

I saw my hematologist yesterday ( I have a very unexplained bleeding disorder...) I had initially went to discuss my concern for my iron levels since I want to make sure that I'm in the best health possible for IVF.

Anyways, what I ended up getting from her was concern for my ER because she says she is worried that my ovaries might bleed after/during extraction. She told me she would get in contact with my RE to discuss the best plan for this. My Doc said that there is a shot they can give me prior to doing the ER but I can only have like 16 oz of fluids in the next 24 hours afterwards, I'm concerned they won't allow this for OHSS fear, apparently there is also a pill available which isn't quite as good but better than nothing. I'm now paranoid that they are going to tell me IVF isn't an option or something..

Anyone going through this? I need some re-assurance.

    Well, I have Factor V although my hematologist never mentioned anything about the possibility of an issue during ER. I'm taking daily injections of Lovenox but my issue is clotting too quick which sounds to be the opposite for you. I'd be interested to know what shot they'd give you...and why only just before the ER instead of giving you something to build up in your system ahead of time. I'd ask them that if it were me. Good luck though, I'll keep an eye out for updated posts to see what they decide to do!

    Hey Jessi!

     I have von willebrand's disease so I've been talking about this with my doctor as well.  My Hematologist was also concerned about my ovaries bleeding if we went for IVF (specifically for ER like you said).   I've been thinking maybe having a preventative blood transfusion before hand.  

    Do you respond to any clotting factor injections/meds to help you clot?

    I'd love to hear updates about what you find out from your hematologist and what you decide to do.

    Suz, they tested me for Von Willebrands as I have all the text book symptoms but alas that came back (mostly) negative... My Dr did tell me the name of the shot she was initially thinking but I can't remember it for the life of me. I currently have an on-going prescription for cyclo capron which I'm suppose to take at the onset of AF 3x a day but I typically don't follow that ( I know, not very smart) I just am so used to dealing with all of this that to be honest I don't really think of it. Anyways, she did say that if lack of fluids was a huge deal we might be able to get away with only using the cyclo Capron, I'm unexplained so we are really not positive what the outcome will be for anything... Or if there will be any issues at all!

     Hope this all made some sense, bumping from my phone while on night shift... Yuck!
