Anyone use puddle jumpers with LO?

If so, would you recommend them? Do you like them better than the arm band floaties? Pros/cons of the puddle jumpers? LO just turned three.

We just got one for LO he is about 26 pounds and it worked well. He usually uses the arm floaty things but we went to a pool that doesn't allow anyone under 11 or 4'7" to not have a life jacket, he was happy with the puddle jumper and was swimming around the pool.

Don't use arm floaties. Puddle Jumps are Coast Guard approved and are made so that if a child falls in or is struggling it will flip them to their back. Neither are conducive to swimming so time out of the puddle jumper practicing swimming with your help is needed as well.

We got a ladybug one for DD over the weekend. She is right around 30 lbs, and it worked well. At first she was a little hesitant and still wanted to hold on to DH and I, but after a little while she was swimming around on her own. So, she did great with hers. The only bad thing that happened with hers is that when she was sitting on the side of the pool, she fell backwards and hit her head on the ground b/c she wasn't used to wearing it and the chest part made her tip back a little.

We LOVE DD's puddle jumper and so does she! She's only 25 lbs and was only 23 lbs last summer, but both summers it's worked just fine. It does work a little better this summer, since she's taller and a bit broader this summer than last.

I also love the fact that it's both a "floatie" type item and a life jacket. If we were to go out on a boat, DD would be more than happy to wear her puddle jumper the whole time!

This. When I take the kids to the pool alone it is the rule that DD needs to keep this on at all times. She loves to jump in, even when nobody is there to catch her... so stressful! She doesn't mind wearing it. The design helps keep her face out of the water, and the arm bands stay put vs. water wings that slide. Totally worth the $14 (I think they're a bit cheaper at walmart)

We have one and it's awesome. We started swim lessons a month before vacation, and she was still pretty scared in the pool. We just went to Cancun for a week with the puddle jumper and she loved it. It made her feel really secure, and before we knew it she was swimming all over with it on. It doesn't push them on thier backs just helps keep their head above water. We got the more expensive one with the 3-D animal on it because she was so in love with it that she wanted to put it on around the house. Never complained about wearing it once.

DD loves her puddle jumper and so do I. She didn't like the arm floaties so I was relieved when I found the puddle jumper last year. She doesn't complain about having to wear it and feels like a big girl in the pool.
