Bumbo

I know this was brought up just a couple days ago, but I'm flaky and can't find the thread...

I didn't think I'd get a Bumbo seat because I refuse to pay $40 for a little piece of plastic. However, I saw one on Craigslist for $15, and I'm considering getting it. Sophie has great head control, and we practice sitting a lot on our own. I'd probably just use the Bumbo as another option of places to put her while I'm doing other things (like, putting her on the kitchen floor in it while I'm doing dishes, etc.).

I need opinions - should I get it?

    For $15, heck yes :)

We use ours all the time and he loves it.

  • I would for 15 bucks.  We put DD in one at BRU the other day and I about died she looked so cute, but I couldn't justify 40 bucks.

  • I felt the same way, but when DD started trying to sit up herself whenever she's in the bouncer or swing, I decided it was time to check cl. We got ger one for $25, and it's definitely been worth it. For $15, I'd jump all over that.

  • Agree--buy it.  We use it during dinner time so that my husband and I can both eat at the same time.

Oh, wow -- eating at the same time -- I've almost forgotten what that's like.

I'd get it.  We also didn't think we would, didn't register for one, etc...  Then we found that Logan LOVED to sit up.  We also found one online for a great price, used.  It's purple but whatever!  He still only sits in it for a couple minutes because I want to make sure he really has full head control but he loves it!

  • I would do it for $15. I always said I'd never get her one since we had a bouncer and I wasn't sure how I felt about them anyway - especially when they were $40! But now I kinda wish we had one cuz she loves to sit up! Even on the couch she tries to pull her back away to support herself (but she just starts to tip over!)

The girls are in theirs every day.  If I'm cooking I'll have one/both of them near me so that I can sing and play with them and the one waiting for her bath sits in it near the tub while we give her sister a bath.  Especially since there is no harness or strap you can't leave them in it unattended, but we have them in them a lot when we're doing things that need both hands and just keep them nearby in a safe place.  My sister stopped using one with my nephew around 7 months when he was throwing himself all over and using his legs to try to push himself out of it, but even if you only get 4 months use out of it that's not bad for $15.

  • I'm with everyone else.  I love that it is surprisingly portable so it makes a great "put the baby down while I do this thing quick that requires 2 hands or bending over" object.  Better than swing/bouncy (which are surprisingly awkward to maneuver).

  • I think at even $40 the Bumbo is worth it. We've been using ours for about 10 weeks now, and it is amazing. She loves being in it.

  • Eli loves his Bumbo. I'd totally pick it up for only $15! The tray is also worth it (even if you have to pay retail) because now that Eli is interacting with toys, I can put them on the tray and he can use them as he pleases.

ETA: *points to siggy*  It's also great for picture taking!
