Babies: 0 - 3 Months

For those who have LOs who love the paci....

What kind do they love? I am trying desperately to introduce the paci to DD who is about 2 months old, but she is so not a fan of the Soothie, and gags after a few seconds. Not sure which other one to try. Suggestions?

  • So far the Nuk is the one and only in our house. We tried a few others and he either gagged on it or it didn't quite sit right on the outside of his face. One even covered his nose a little!

We use the Nuk Orthostar pacis (the ones that are one solid piece of soft silicone). We used to use the regular nuks but the hard plastic dug into her cheeks and the nipple would get water inside of it when we washed it and then it would get all cloudy and icky looking.

  • I just got some NUK and some of the Dr Browns. The smoothies didn't stay in her mouth but so far the NUK is a winner. I have not had PP problem but when I do I will switch if needed.

  • My son loves the Wubbanubs..it has the Soothie  attached though. He takes it better now, but I found if you put your finger in it and move it back and forth a little to get their reflex going it helps.

This. We don't have the wubanub but I've heard it is helpful. We also put our finger in the soothie and help LO to get a good grasp. Sometimes I have to hold it for sometime. The only reason I'd recomnebd trying with the soothie again is because it helps them to properly suck... You could also try the gum drop pacifier.

We started with Gumdrop pacifiers, which DH loved. He then starting spitting them out after a month or so. He really loves the NUK pacifiers. We also have tommy tippee's but haven't tried these yet.

We have tried them all!!!  But LO will only take the soothie... However, they do not make paci holders for the soothie... or so i thought!  THank you to all the women who mentioned the Wubbanub!  I will be going to the store and finding these ASAP!!!

I am constantly searching for his paci after he drops it in the car seat (or wherever)

  • He loves his Soothie. Although, I think its horribly ugly, so I've been trying to get him to be comfortable with the NUK's. I have tons of that kind, and they are cuter. So far he will suck it, but sometimes will lose it since the nipple part isn't as long as the soothie...and it doesn't calm him like the soothie does. Sigh...

  • We use avents. I like the way they look the best, the nuks left marks on his face. But my son likes any paci, nuks and the soothie.

  • My LO loves the soothie brand.
  • Tommie Tippie for us, only one we tried.
  • Like your DC, DS gagged and almost vomitted when we gave him the Soothie.  He did come around to taking it for a short period of time but then would spit it out.  His pedi said we could buy the premie size on their website and it would help reduce the gag reflex.  We decided we would try other brands first- we tried 6 different brands before DS finally took the Avent paci.

  • He used the smoothie paci's in the hospital and seems to like it. We haven't offered any other kind.
