I bought some super cute maxi dresses at Gap this weekend but exchanged them for a bigger size... which seem huge, but I am definitely not shrinking, lol. I am also worried about being able to find summer things when it is super hot. What are you doing? Buying some things a bit too big or just hoping for the best and buying as you go???
Re: How big/how far out are you buying mat clothes?
I'm buying as I go for now. I'm in denial that I'll likely be whale-like during the hottest parts of the year.
I am having a hard time finding dresses that are both comfortable and vaguely work appropriate.
Make a pregnancy ticker
none of my stuff from my last pregnancy works since it was different seasons and I was carrying two.
I've been buying stuff as I need it. Today I got two maternity tanks and two non maternity skirts at target. I bought a swimsuit from ON a few weeks ago. I try to buy non maternity things as much as possible so I can possibly reuse them again next year. With maxi dresses and skirts being so in this summer, it's pretty easy to find stuff cheap that I can wear postpartum.
I really only go out to playgroups and then in my yard with the kids, so I don't have to worry about having a full wardrobe which is awesome this time around.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
I'm still wearing some longer shirts that I had from last season, but I'm loving switching over to maternity dresses and pants already. Just went to a bbq yesterday in a cute Motherhood dress I found at Macy's and lapped up the compliments from family and friends. Plus, it's all super comfortable... I don't know why we die for fashion, but going as long as I can without zippers or buttons makes me one happy girl.
I did get one of those Bella Bands or whatever they're called so I can keep wearing my jeans and work pants for as long as possible... but I've worn it exactly one time so far. It worked out, just enjoying dresses as it gets warmer.
I think it's best to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, and most confident.
I can already wear all of last year's sundresses and maxi dresses. The maxi skirts look crazy on me with my belly (and i'm afraid of wearing super high heels at this moment,) so I left those skirts in the back of the closet for now.
AT Motherhood Maternity last week I just bought a few dresses and shirts to wear right now. And from ann taylor loft maternity online, I bought a skirt and capri pants to wear when I turn into a watermelon. I have no idea how big I'll get. But, the clothes were on sale, so I took a chance. Granted, my clothes now versus the bigger clothes are enormously different. so we'll see.
I also found the CUTEST dresses at Target. They're not maternity dresses. They are sundresses by xhileration. $15 each. They are in the teen section (i'm petite) and they have elastic for the area right under your bosom and the rest of the dress flairs out in a perfect a line. They're perfect for work because I can pair wit a suit jacket, pop the collar and put on heels. Then for after work, I can pull on some flip flops, take off the jacket and they're sexy little dresses with their bright colors. Hubby loves them. So easy. But I'm not very busty and I'm VERY stomach-y. See if you can find some. I found them to be a good investment and they are very of the moment in terms of fashion.
