What does one do with Baby Oil?

I got the complete Arbonne baby set from a friend and I'm confused about what to do with baby oil.  The only experience I've ever had with it is the old ladies laying out with mirrors and lubing themselves up.

  • Infant massage would be my guess.

  • I honestly have no idea what to do with that stuff, but I did use it to remove cradle cap with my DS.

  • I was told that it helps clean up after their first couple dirty diapers bc of the consistency.  I guess it is hard to get off of them?  I'm a first timer and know nothing!  Just what i heard!

  • What does someone do with baby oil well its magic with all my girls even the 19 year old I would give them a lukewarm bath at night? Put the oil in the water so it gets warm but not hot I get baby out of water and oil put baby on blanket and massage it gets rid of the gas baby sleeps better to and would rip moisture out of skin like lotions do. Also it can help baby fine hair on picture day to stay in place. Its good for mommy's skin to I love it

  • From what I know it serves 2 purposes: removing cradle cap and cleaning meconium (apparently it is too sticky for wipes).

I use it along with baby wash and warm water to make my recipe for homemade baby wipes.  I've never actually used it directly on DD.

  • At my expectant parent class we were actually advised against using it directly on baby's skin because it can clog pores. My nurse advised baby lotion instead for infant massage.

  • A friend of mine puts it in her hair. A lot of it. Quoting her though, "Not a good idea for white girls."
  • Funny, I asked my DH this over the weekend. HAHA!

  • A little in the bath tub water was a lifesaver in the winter months here. I've heard it's also good for cradle cap although we didn't use it for that.

Haha.  This reminds me of the time I put Olive Oil in my hair.  Thanks a lot Seventeen magazine!
