TTC After a Loss

Grumpy Jenn :(

I'm grumpy. Grumpy grumpy grumpy. I was feeling so positive about seeing the naturopath and maybe it was helping and I've been off dairy for 6 weeks now. But no, last night I had yet another horrible diarrhea attack. And now I'm all depressed and discouraged and frustrated. I hate that I've been sick for 11 months and that no one can figure out what's going on. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. And never come out again. I don't want to do anything. I have a whole list of things I should be doing tonight while DH is gone but I have no motivation. Who cares what I do, I'll just be sick for the rest of my life anyways.

Boo. Pity party here.

  • I am so very sorry you are in a crappy mood!

Set backs suck so badly, so I hope what you felt was not your mystery illness but perhaps a little virus that has been going around.

I am so sorry again!  Don't lose all hope that you've felt with your improvements.

I am so so so sorry.  I have had stomach issues since I was in high school, and the doctors were never able to find out what was wrong.  They gave me an IBS probiotic supplement that I took for several years and they worked great.  All of a sudden, in the last couple of weeks, they no longer do.  I also have problems with diarrhea attacks and it's awful because it sucks to go through it plus it's so embaressing.  I almost skipped going to a wedding last night because I was so sick, I had to take 4 Imodium to feel confident enough to attend.

I really feel for you, I'm so sorry you're going through this.  My only suggestion might be a probiotic since it did work for me for a while - it's Digestive Advantage Intensive Bowel Support, over the counter, you could ask your doctor about it if you want.

I'm taking a probiotic right now now. Sad I'm taking a bunch of supplements and have been for 6 weeks now and yet I'm still sick. I hate this.

And I'm sorry you've also struggled with this. Diarrhea is the worst.

Ugh, I am so sorry that they aren't working for you either.  If I find anything else in the future that works I'll let you know.   Keep us posted, I hope you can get a diagnosis and treatment soon.

I'm so sorry. I don't know the back story, but I assume if you've been puzzling doctors for 11 months that you don't need me to tell you the obvious possibilities. I will offer up just one single suggestion, though, since my mom was having a problem with explosive diarrhea for a while and figured out that it was sucralose (Splenda), which had replaced some of the other artificial sweeteners in some of her regular foods. That obviously might not be the case with you, but I wanted to at least throw it out there.

Anyway, diarrhea sucks big time. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was in college, and for a full 3 semesters before the attacks started to come less frequently, I was miserable. It destroyed my social life and left me feeling really insecure about all sorts of things (what? a cookout in the woods? I can't go - I have no idea where the nearest toilet is.), so I know how you feel. One setback doesn't necessarily mean that the treatment isn't working. And even if it doesn't completely go away, even less frequent attacks are better than no improvement, maybe??

  • I'm so sorry you're not feeling well, Jenn.  What you're going through sounds awful.  I would definitely leave the chores for a better day and just focus on doing something to make yourself as comfortable as possible.  I hope you'll have a better day tomorrow.

  • Am I too late? Can I join your pity party? I am feeling really grumpy myself, though for no reason I can really identify why I am so grumpy.

I am so sorry you are still going through all of this. I can't even imagine how frustrated you must be that you still don't have any answers. Sending you thoughts and prayers.
