Cloth Diapering

What do you put on your LO to swim....?

My DS is almost 6 months. Today I bought a plastic kiddy pool. I just took out the isnert in his BG pocket. I have a swim diaper cover, but its pull up and seems like so much of a hastle to keep everything from bunching up on the inside.

I figure his pee wouldnt stay in regarldess, but as long as I'd keep the poo in were good. Right?

  • I just put a swim diaper on her.  You can also use the pocket shell as a swim diaper.  You are just trying to keep in the poop.

  • Yep, I use a couple of old Sunbaby pockets that have delaminated. I also have an "official" swim diaper (a Bummis Swimmi) but they work the same.

  • We have a Bummis Swimmi. It's worked great. She was wearing it in her kiddie pool this afternoon.

  • rump-a-rooz OS with no insert.  In your own kiddie pool it don't matter but in a chlorine pool remember that it can ruin the pul so if you do that remember which diaper it was for next time.

I liked the rump-a-rooz better because it is the only one I have and I thought the double gusset would be a nice extra safety feature.

  • We have a Imse Vimse swim diaper. They have matching tankinis, which are really nice.

  • we have one rumparooz cover that started to delaminate, so we use that unstuffed because it's not part of our regular rotation and we're too cheap to buy a true swim diaper :)  plus, as you said - the goal is just to hold the poop in.  the pee will float around in the water regardless.
  • Yesterday was DS's first day in the kiddie pool (we never went to the pool last summer).  I just did a regular cover with nothing.  I thought about using a pocket without an insert but I don't have a lot of pockets and didn't want to waste one just on the pool.  Is it ok that PUL touched his skin directly?  He only had it on for about 20 minutes so I figured that was ok.

Anyway, I was thinking just keep the poop in.

  • In the backyard, I don't use a swim diaper-just the suit. If she has to poop, I can tell, so I take her out to do so on the toilet. At the community pool, she wears a Mother-Ease swim diaper or a Bummis Swimmis one. And yes, it is a pain to use a swim diaper that doesn't come undone on both hips.
