Hi! I was referred to this board for my questions regarding water births. I'm not a mom yet, or even actively TTC, but I have been researching everything like crazy, and from what I've come up with, water birth sounds like the option for me. I am concerned about the pain factor, as I would have no possiblity of an epidural with a water brith, but have read that the water has a calming affect, making the birth feel less painful?
Anyone have any experience with it? We have a great birth center within an hour of our house, so I wouldn't have to do the at-home option, which to be honest, scares me to death!
P.S. I am working witht he community on getting my SN changed.
Re: Water Births
This is asked pretty much weekly, so if you scroll back you should find a lot of information.
I have had two water births at home. Water was a real savior for me personally. I pretty much spent the entire 40 hours of my first labor going back and forth between my shower and the birthing tub.
FWIW, while homebirths are not for everyone, they are just as safe as a birth centers. There is nothing at a birth center that MWs don't carry with them to a homebirth. Just some food for thought.
