June 2012 Moms

up most of the night.

I had a few painful contractions last night, but the majority of the problem was a horrible tearing/cramping feeling in my cervix. It made me cry and whine. DH stayed up with me and he keeps telling me calmly that he thinks I'm dilating (I'm FTM, but he has two) and I'll be ok. He said we can go to L&D whenever I want to, but I know they'll just send us home if I don't have a contraction pattern or my water broken. From what I know...this limboland can last for days.

Re: up most of the night.

  • I have been having this EXACT same thing for the last 3-5 nights. I didnt have this while pregnant with DD.  I hope you feel better soon!!! Most likely it is doing something, last time I went I was 3cm and 75%. GL

  • I'm sorry you're hurting too, but I'm glad its not abnormal/uncommon. I'm hoping my LO doesn't come until Friday. How long are you hoping to hang in there?

My OB won't check dilation until week 39 at regular appts (unless you go to L&D for labor symptoms) since it doesn't indicate when labor will really start. So I don't know what's happening down there, but I have to assume its something.

  • Yikes!  I hope you girls are feeling better soon!  Chouli, if you tell your doctor about the chronic pain, do you think you can trick her into a cervical check?  Just for your peace of mind?

I have been having some BH (although nothing this painful like you describe) and it does mentally make me feel better to know that it is my body 'practicing' or making progress for the big day.  I would probably not feel good about it if it was any more painful though...I hope you get some relief soon (maybe even as soon as Friday?!??!!!)

    Feel better!

  • I've been having the same thing for a week now and at my appt last week I did get checked and was at 2 cm, so there's some hope! I keep telling my boy that if he's so uncomfy in there that he should come out here where there's lots more room:)

  • I think your husband is right and you're feeling your cevix dialate. I've had that same pain for weeks now and every time the dr. checks me, I'm a tiny bit more dialated. When I first started feeling it, I wasn't open at all. By my next appt., I was a fingertip. The week after that I was 1 cm. Try leaning forward in a chair, bouncing on a birth ball or getting on all fours and doing hip circles or sways. This really helps with my pain and it gets baby in the optimal position. Good luck!

  • I am with you! Last night was not fun. My cervix feels like it is doing something. They doctor told me nothing is happening up there when they checked on Friday. I am just about ready for him to come out now!
