XP crib not snug

I set up the crib and the mattress is not snug.  my whole hand can fit in it- so I am returned the mattress but I think these are all standard- I'm a bit concerned.

    see I thought all cribs  were standard and same with all mattreses- upon looking on line at BRU- the mattress I bought was 51 length x 27width  x 5.5 width of mattress.  I am taking it back tomorrow (they are closed tonight now)  and getting one that is  53 x 28 x 6.5.  Yes it is a brand new crib and brand new mattress.. I guess a PSA to checkthese things in time-= hence why we set the crib up right?

    I looked carefully at the measurement because the Davinci cribs are a different size than the usual. The Sealy soybean foamcore mattress, which I think is a 53, fits perfectly. GL!

    you can get a new mattress or i have seen people cut foam to fill the gap... they just tuck it in the crib sheet so it acts as an extension of the mattress
