Back arching and nose diving babies

In the passed few days my son has really taken to using his little body's momentum to catapult himself away from anyone holding him/playing with him.  He has perfected the ever challenging baby skill of the "back arch" and has also decided he thinks its fun to try to nose dive out of our arms.  He has also brought these skills to the Bumbo chair.   He is keeping us on our toes, that's for sure!

This is just moving when he is still in my arms, I can't imagine once he starts to move and crawl all by himself! Anyone else's LO trying to make a break for it and assert their independence??

  • DH and I were at a birthday party this past weekend with LO.  We had just arrived and undid her straps in her carseat but left her in there (on the floor) while we sat down.  Well we only looked away for maybe 10 seconds and then when we looked back at her ,DD had "back arched" herself half way out the carseat!  She's moving way to fast for us!

  • Yup, just this week my baby boy discovered how fun it is to fling his head back while sitting. It's now a game for him, he'll do it for an hour straight... flip back, get brought back up, repeat

This.  DS has arched his back to slide out of his carseat, bouncer and swing, so now we have to strap him in even if it's just for a moment.  I feel badly when he's all strapped into the carseat, but we've arrived at our destination (ex. restaurant, mall, etc.), so I usually unlatch the chest buckle, but leave the leg harness buckled in, so he can't wiggle his way out.

  • Emily just started doing this, when she is strapped into her bouncer she nose dives and folds herself in half so she can grab her toes....I am not sure I trust the buckles that much...and I get scared she will flip the bouncer over. She just started doing it in the swing too

C slid out of his swing today. It made me cry. No more going without straps.
