C-sections

How much pain is normal two weeks post c-section?

I had my tubes tied as well and have noticed more cramping than usual.  I have a frequent dull pain in the lower right abdominal quadrent.  I also have severe incisional pain at the very edge of the left side of my incision....this also comes and goes and can be described as burning and stinging.  I don't remember being this uncomfortable two weeks out with my first section.  I'm still taking Motrin every six hours or so at this point.....

  • The severe incisional pain would make me call my OB. I didn't have severe pain, but was still taking some ibuprofen each day to minimize discomfort at 2 weeks out. I didn't need any more meds by 2.5-3 weeks out.

  • I am 4 days out and have decreased my pain meds significantly as of today. I have only needed to take one pill of Vicodin all day and two Motrin. However I will say everyone and their pain tolerance is different, but if you are concerned I second calling your OB to discuss it .
  • I stopped all pain meds by day 10 because I felt basically 100%. If I walk/ am too active, my incision area feels right but not painful.

A nurse in the hospital told me the burning can come and go up to 4 weeks so that sounds normal to me. But... If you're ever concerned, it's always wise to call your doctor.
