I've been on the TTCAL board coming up on two years (although I started my TTCAL journey 5 years ago). I moved to posting exclusively on 6+ about a year ago.
There always have been, and always will be, differences of opinions on the boards. The oldies have learned through long (and sometimes very painful) experience what kind of balance tends to work on the board. Puppies and rainbows isn't a bad thing, however it does tend to breed an environment that is highly troll friendly. Many of you were not around for the troll that was working her hardest to get personal information and creep on board members, but those who have been around a while are well familiar with her. She got her start because people were too "nice" to call her out when the first warning signs appeared. When the oldies tried to stop it, we took a ton of abuse up until our suspicions were proved accurate. We don't do this to be mean, we do this because we've seen how quickly things can go bad and we care about you. We want you to be safe, we want you to remember your time on this board fondly. We've seen the most notorious trolls, and we're well versed in the signs that one might exist.
After a few months, typing out the same information becomes repetitive and obnoxious. We love to give support, and we're happy to share the information we have. We know you have questions, which is why such painstaking effort has been put into the blog. Why read the blog? Many of the people who have walked this road and have moved on aren't on this board often enough to answer questions. Some of them have experiences that are pretty rare, but chronicled for you in the blog. Not all of the people on this board have all the knowledge there is to have about TTCAL/IF/SIF/RPL/etc, but we've worked incredibly hard to make sure that we preserve as much information for you in one place as possible. The less time everyone takes answering the same questions over and over, the more time we have to offer emotional support. I'm not saying don't ask questions, all I'm asking is that you do a quick check with google and/or the blog first.
I promise, the oldies/geezers are NOT out to get you. We're not the TTCAL Mafia. We're a group of people who are invested in seeing you graduate, and we will do everything possible to support you on your journey.

LilMaggs, this was very well written. Thank you. The blog is like a time capsule, of sorts. Except we don't have to wait 20 years to break into it.
