Sorry to say that they may never...I know that's not what you wanted to hear. One of my nephews cried any time you even thought about putting him in the car seat, until he was about a year old. It was a nightmare going anywhere with them!
Aria is about half and half with the car seat. Some days, she hates it, some days she loves it. For the days she hates it, we bought this Bright Starts toy at Wal-Mart. It's like a little bar that straps to the infant carrier handle. It has three little dangle toys, and if you pull on the middle one, it plays music. Works wonders. It's one of the best baby purchases I've made to date.
I wish I knew! My LO hates the car seat and howls much of the time. She occasionally does okay in the car, but I can't figure out what accounts for it. It's so bad that most days we just stay home with her. We tried a toy on the bar (seems to alternate between pacifying her and pissing her off), only going places after a feedingl, playing lullaby's- you name it.
On the bright side- they have to grow out of this at SOME age, right?

DD crys in the car too, we bought a mirror that lights up and plays songs that sticks on the back of the seat. Sometimes I can turn that on and she listens to it, sometimes I can sing to her and it helps but most the time I just listen to screaming baby until I get her out of the car.
hope she grows out of it soon.

Just an idea, but have you tried putting them in the car seat in the house when you aren't going in the car? Just get them to hang out, play with them, make funny faces, maybe see if they'll take a bottle....any activity that makes the car seat more enjoyable. Just thinking if they can get used to it a little more, they may fuss less when in the actual car. Good luck!!!

We have a car seat hater too. We've tried an infant seat, convertible seat, DVD player (playing baby Einstein or something similar), toys, feeding a bottle...you name it.
Ive heard that once they are better at self soothing that they may do better in the car. I'm hoping so. My LO fell asleep in the car for the first time ever this past weekend. We drove around until he woke up because we were so shocked. I think you just got to keep doing it too.
It's kind of a PITA. But mine son cries when he goes in. I think it was cause it's too tight (although I know he likes the feeling). So I loosen the straps before I put him in. Then once he's all buckled in. I tighten them just enough.
I also got these for his car seat handle. He'll go from whining to a minute later being mesmorized by these things. Best money I ever spent. When he gets pissed being in the seat I tell him to look at his friends and shake them (they make noise) and he zones in on them. The box says they like things that are symetrical.
DH or I will go sit beside her when she starts freaking out... that's our best solution. if he's not with me, i just make sure i've got cruise on so i don't speed to get where we're going faster!
I just feel so bad going anywhere with LO with him crying so much. I feel like going places is the same as letting him CIO and I dont want to cause him stress. But its not practical to not leave the house.
We have dangle toys, we have this super bar thing that attaches for him to play with. I try loud music, static. I have not tried a mirror. That is my next purchase, and then a different car seat.
DD doesn't seem to have a problem with the carseat so much as being "abandoned". She screams bloody murder anytime she is in the backsleep by herself. If I sit with her she behaves perfectly. I don't even have to neccessarily touch her, she just needs to see me, oh and re-insert the soother
