Natural Birth

fear of needing a c section

We don't have any midwives in our area, so I am seeing an ob practice that says all power to me if I want to go natural as long as I can do it before 41 weeks. Well today I am 40 weeks 3cm and 80% effaced. For the past two weeks all they have been telling me is that baby just needs to drop.

I have had hip problems this pregnancy, they were horribly unaligned and I have been having them realigned by a chiropractor. But im scared that there still causing some sort of problem as to why my baby wont drop.

Anyway I was wondering if one anyone had any tips on how to get this baby to drop. I have tried the yoga ball, hip rocking, walking, and acupressure points. Ive considered trying a prenatal massage but not sure if that would help?

Also since im seeing a ob I was wondering if any of you have any tips on how to make the baby drop during labor if I end up having to induce. I know theres something about hip swaying or rocking but I just want to be sure of this stuff since my ob will probably be lacking suggestions on things like that.

Also I will add that I am fine being induced at 41 weeks instead of going to 42 so im not planning on fighting them with that. Of coarse I would prefer no induction at all so please give my your suggestions.

Re: fear of needing a c section

  • Is this your first pregnancy? Most, but not all, 2+ babies don't drop until labor starts. Mine dropped, but won't engage. He keeps wiggling out of launch position. Once your in labor, especially that ripened, baby should be forced into your pelvis.

  • My Doula on #1 had me walking curbs (parking lot or street). Walk along parallel to a curb with the side A foot on top and side B in the gutter area, then do the opposite on your way back. I did it in a parkinglot but a non-busy street would work. Good luck!

  • Guess I was just paranoid, he came this morning and dropped 10 minutes before he was out during pushing. Will post my natural birth story later
