I saw your post on the CB monitor. A friend of mine gave me hers and I thought I'd give it a try. Do you mind sharing with me what you didn't like about it?
It worked ok, but it made you test a LOT, even on days I knew I wasn't going to O because I guess it builds a baseline or something? That was irritating and it was kinda hard to set up also.
The other problem is I used the smiley face stick before and O'd two months in a row, then switched to the fertility monitor and had three months with no ovultation, then I switched back to the smiley face and got a smiley face first month. It is probably just total coincidence, because I know I don't ovulate consistently, but I have heard that not all types of tests work for all women and I am more comfortable sticking with a test that I know detects ovulation for me. Silly, but there it is!
I guess I have the monitor too if anyone wants it, but I questioned whether someone who doesn't know me that well wants something that might have traces of my pee on it.

Thank you Boots. It makes sense to stick with what you are comfortable with.

I haven't used the CBEFM, but a lot of friends have. Here's the thing with OPKs.
OPKs (with the smiley face or otherwise) can tell you when your LH is rising. This is the hormone that tells your body to ovulate. However, it's possilbe to gear up to ovulate multiple times in a cycle before it happens, or sometimes it doesn't happen at all. OPKs are best used in combination with a BBT to confirm when a thermal shift has happened, so you know you've actually ovulated.
I haven't used the CBEFM, but I know it's worked magic in helping a lot of people pinpoint their cycles more accurately than they were able to with just OPKs.
Thanks car seat. I am charting as well. I guess I should have said that when I asked my question. I will use the monitor in conjunction with charting.
