I am having to formula feed because little only really wouldn't latch on and then came down with thrush, so it set us back. I am pumping. How long do most of you pump for at each setting? Doc also recommended fenugreek.
It takes me about 30 min to pump down each breast. I get 10 oz total each time, except in the morning I get 20-ish total and freeze some. I pump 3 times a day now, an nurse during the middle of the night feeding.
Usually 15 to 20 or however long it takes to empty.... I keep going until I haven't had any drops of milk come out for about a minute or two. My middle of the night pump & 7am sometimes takes 30 minutes. I typically get anywhere from 5 to 8 oz.
I don't have an answer to your question but wanted to say sorry you're dealing with thrush! I am too and I found a wonderful lactation consultant who's helped a lot in dealing with it - we've pretty much beat it after only 2 days of treatment now.

I can totally relate! Both my lo and I have thrush - her on her tongue and on my nipples, it sucks big time! Eve had issues with my mk supply and her difficulty staying awake during feedings since the beginning. Here is what ove been doing, at the advice of two LCs, and her pedi...
Attempt to bf, then bottle feed milk
Pump every three hours or after her feeding, every 4 at night
Steralize pump parts at least once a day by boiling for 10 minutes, wash with extremely hot water after each use
Drinking 4 cups of mothers milk tea per day to increase supply
using clotrimazole for my nipples, using nipple shields to keep her from having direct contact with the blisters
She is getting treated with nystatin.
And even with all of this, just today I've had to supplement with formula. I don't know how much longer I can keep all of this up.
Good luck to you!

Have you tried Gentian Violet? Almost all the mothers I've spoken to who've had thrush say that GV works much better than Nystatin. (I used Nystatin with DD1 when we had thrush and it never really went away - but after only 4 days of using GV the thrush is gone for both of us now.)
Some other things to try when you're dealing with thrush:
-Pro-biotics (for you and for LO). You can take the pills (easily found at a natural food store), and your LO can take drops.
-Dr. Newman's nipple ointment (most LCs will know about this and be able to prescribe it).
-Rinsing your nips after every feed with a solution made from water and Grapefruitseed Extract.
-Cutting sugar from your diet and bad carbs.
-Wash everything you've worn at the end of the day in hot water and use paper towels to dry your hands. This helps prevent re-infection until you're sure the thrush is gone.
