Success after IF

1 year old - bottles/WCM?

DS turned 1 a few weeks ago, and we are in the process of transitioning to WCM after his last well baby visit. How many bottles and/or sippy cups of milk does/did your 1 year old have per day, and how much milk on average? V drinks water from a sippy cup during the day, but I am waiting to transition him off of bottles completely until after the transition to WCM. He isn't super easy going when it comes to change, so I don't want to change everything all at once. Thanks in advance for any input!

Re: 1 year old - bottles/WCM?

  • P has four cups of milk during the day - 4 oz each. Sometimes he aske for more and drinks a couple more ounces. Sometimes he doesn't finish the cup. He gets his milk when he wakes up, with his mid morning snack at 10:30, with his afternoon snack at 3:30, and before bed. He also eats a lot of cheese and yogurt so he has other dairy sources. (He has been on a similar schedule since about a year.)

Thank you for replying :-) I wasn't sure if anyone would given the current state of the board. That is very helpful. Wishing you lots of luck for your upcoming FET!!

  • I transitioned DS to WCM at 1 year.  We are still in bottles though because that transition has been tougher.  He gets a bottle when he gets up, one before lunch, one before dinner, and one at bedtime.  They are all about 7 oz and he sometimes crushes the bottle and wants more and sometimes doesn't finish it all.  I am hoping to transition to him having it in a sippy at meals and taking in more dairy so he doesn't have to have as much but it will be a work in progress.

Thanks for the reply sweetie :-) V is getting 4 bottles/sippy cups of milk a day now, but he only has about 5 oz at a time. I am trying to be very vigilant about keeping a cup of water near him at all times because the WCM has a tendency to back him up. Poor little dude. I hope J is doing well and that you're feeling great!!

  • DS is almost 11 mos now and we are still weaning down his formula to an acceptable amount, he currently drinks 4 - 7oz/day.  I plan to introduce coconut milk (milk allergy) in the bottle and once I have him switched I will start trying to get him to drink it out of a sippy.  He drinks water from a sippy but I swear more ends up on him than in his mouth.
