Lift with my...what?!

I have DS in a RNP next to my bed at night. We'll be moving him to his bedroom at 6 months. Anyways, I can't figure out how to lift LO without absolutely killing my lower back. It wasn't a big deal when he was smaller but now that he weighs more, I'm in so much pain. Obviously I can't just lean over in bed and grab him really fast anymore, but what am I supposed to do? I feel like the RNP is at such a strange angle and height. I'm dying here. Maybe it is time to move him to the crib after all.

Re: Lift with my...what?!

  • I just posted this is another thread but what I did was re-arrange my bedroom so I could fit DS's PnP in my room, then transitioned him there instead of his crib in his bedroom. Which is literally 3 steps away across the hall. I'm fighting til the 6 month mark to keep him in our room!

  • We also have a PnP in our room and DS sleeps on the upper level. We are aiming for 6 months with us as well. You could also look at getting one of the small travel cribs. Just like a PnP but half the footprint. If you decide to keep him in the RnP, you need to start lifting with your legs or you will injure yourself which doesn't do anyone any good. Get down into a deep squat (not bending at the waist) before pulling him out and use the strength in your  legs to stand up.

  • I'd move him to the crib.
