strollers for two

Anyone have a double stoller or one of those sit n stand strollers?  If so, please recommend yours.  I have a 3 year old and a newborn.  I am debating whether to get a double stroller/sit n stand or just a standard stroller for one.  I do like the idea of the sit n stand ones.

Re: strollers for two

  • We have the Baby Jogger City Select and love it.  But if your older one is three, I'd be inclined to get the "rider board" to attach to your single, or practice having your older one walk next to the stroller.  I've always had 2 under 2 (and I'm not big on baby wearing) so the double was a must, but the older ones were always walking nicely next to the stroller by the time there wasn't a seat available for them (around 3 years old).  GL

  • I bought and returned a bunch of strollers before deciding on the City Select.  It is AWESOME!

It steers great, storage is easy to get to, it reconfigures however the heck I want it, and BEST of all, I get to decide if I want a single or a double every time I get it out of my trunk :-)

  • We have the Baby Trend Double Stroller.  I like that it fits DS's car seat, it snaps right on.  Watch that when buying a double because not all car seats are compatible with all strollers.

It steers alright, it is big but not all that heavy.  I can easily handle it and it fits into the back of our CRV alright.  It is a double stroller so you cannot expect it to turn on a dime or not be a little bigger or heavier.  I liked that it wasn't a side by side double.  I have seen so many people have trouble getting through doorways and aisles with those.  I also liked that I have the option of two seats or one seat and a jump seat (DD is two so her interest in sitting in a stroller is usually short lived but she still needed a seat for places like Disney where she naps in her stroller.)

  • I had a BT double jogger and hated it. It had 4 wheels and the front one wobbled so much. It was so heavy and bulky ; and no way I could get in the back of my Escape. I got rid of it and got a BOB and love it. it maneuvers much better than the BT too, I like the brake better too. Although, it is tricky and some times  a challenge to get that in the back of my car without taking the wheel off though.

I do think those are pretty awesome and ingenious.

If the Baby Jogger City Select is out of your price range than go for the new Graco Ready2Grow stroller. I LOVE MINE! My friend has the Baby Jogger and she said for the price you can't beat my Graco, although hers does maneuver easier. I just took off the back "jump seat" to turn it into the sit and stand and DD1 loves it. Also if you're looking for a great wagon for Zoo trips and walks The Radio Flyer Comfort Embrace wagon is fantastic with an infant attachment that removes when baby is old enough to sit in the seat.

Another BJ City Select here. I love that I have both a single and double in my trunk at all times. As a sedan owner, it folds flat, I don't mind the two extra seconds it takes to put the seats on. I was going to get the Graco Quattro Your Duo but it didn't fit height wise in my trunk. After I got the BJCS, I saw the Ready To Grow and test drove it without DS in it and I'm very happy spending $600 more for our stroller as there is a world of difference between them. It handles better, turns on a done with both kids where I thought the Graco was bulky, big, drove big and felt cheap. Also DS is very talk for his age, he was almost 38? at his 2 year checkup. The CS fits him well with room to grow, the graco looked like he wouldn't get as much use out of it. He needs to be contained in a stroller and with our work schedules, DH and I don't get a day off together, next one is Thanksgiving, we need a double. Good luck!

  • We don't have a double stroller but I have seen a BUNCH of those "Joovy Caboose" ones around here. They seem pretty good, the only thing that might be an issue is that the stroller seat is for babies over 6 months (can't really recline for a very young infant). We were going to get one but DS seems to be happiest just walking now..he always kicked up a huge fight about getting back into his stroller after being at the park etc.  So he just walks beside the stroller holding onto the handle with me while I push his little brother.

This.  I don't see a need for a double when #1's 3 y/o.  I would imagine by that point your oldest would much rather and is capable of walking.  I don't see a double lasting as long.  I've heard Sit 'N Stands are hard to steer so you may want to go test drive them.  Otherwise get the rider board or wear #2 and have #1 use your regular stroller and have them take turns using the single.
