Eczema products?

DD has eczema.  My pedi suggested using Cetaphil products, but I checked the ingredients and the wash has parabens in it!! >:-(   I ended up getting Aquaphor baby wash but I was hoping to find something more natural.  Looking for moisturizer too.  Any suggestions?  TIA...

Re: Eczema products?

  • I have really really bad hand eczema since having a baby where the only thing works is a prescription. But I can only use Cetaphil soap to wash my hands with otherwise it flares up big time. It does have parabens in it. BUT the cetaphil moisturizing lotion doesn't (I just read the label on my cream bottle). I actually use baby aveeno wash on my baby and that doesn't bother my hands at all (all other soaps bother me). I also use aquaphor cream on my hands. Maybe try the baby aveeno for baby soap and the aquaphor for cream? Vaseline is also good for eczema. You could put vaseline on the bad spots. I mix the vaseline with my prescription cream and wear those dumb white gloves to bed....wish this would go away!!!

  • We use Kiss My Face Honey Calendula lotion, and it really helps. LO has patches on his chest and belly, and they have almost disappeared since we started using it. Good luck!
  • The only thing I've ever had help my eczema is carrot seed oil. Burt's Bees used to make a carrot seed lotion, but now I just add it to regular unscented lotion.

  • I haven't checked Aveenos ingredients for parabens but its the only thing besides hydrocortisone that worked for my nephew's godawful ecsema. Good luck with your sweet LO. (BEAUTIFUL name btw!)
  • i like babo botanicals wash. I believe they make a wash with calendula in it. from time my ds has had scaly patches, and I put Mustela stelatopia lotion on it. it usually cleared up within a couple days. I also recently bought purple prairie balm for my skin, and supposedly it's has good reviews for clearing eczema.
  • The Cetaphil with Restoroderm moisturizer is paraben free. We used it for a while but are now using Episencial.

I use Vanicream on DD2. I'm still looking for a good shampoo/body wash for her.

  • Believe it or not, my LO had eczema as well and we bought a hazelwood necklace and it really worked! She has been wearing it for a few weeks with no issues. We take it off every night and put it on during the day. Works great with no chemicals.  My fav. DOD site (www.Fairytaledeals.com) just had them up recently. They are really good to work with. I have not done so myself, but I heard from others that if you want something they had up recently, just shoot them an email and if they have it, they will give you the deal price on it. Hope this helps.
