  I purchased mine and so was always buying by the dozen. When we had two changing stations - one in her nursery and one downstairs in the pack n play anda smal stash in the diaper bag - I found that I needed quite a few. Otherwise I was always borrowing from one place or another. 48 was a good number for us. I never had to worry about running low - even if we went an extra day before washing.

  Now that we have consolidated a bit - I don't really need so many but they are nice to have. Most women seem to do great with between 24 and 36.

  My MIL made me 30 wipes and between my diaper bag and my 2 changing stations I have enough for 2 days but feel like I am always looking for more...

  I only ever had 24, I didn't feel it was enough in the beginning (now it's more than enough). I think 36 would be a good number for the early months.
