Can we talk about the 4-month wakeful period?

My son has always been great at being able to "put himself" to sleep at night. He's also slept through the night for about a month.

But ugh. Lately it has been rough in our house. Naps are a nightmare (lasting 30 minutes after fighting sleep for about 20 minutes) and getting him to sleep at night is no picnic either. He's been getting up at least once now at night to eat and he's been eating pretty poorly throughout the day. (Maybe 2-5 oz every 2-4 hours)

Am I the only one?! Please tell me this will pass.

  • You are not the only one but I would kill for one wake up.  We had 6 wake ups the past few nights!!!  My LO used to do 7-4 or 7-5 until this past Tuesday.  I'm dying!!!

This! And, he won't go to bed.  He went down at 7:15 tonight and has been up 3 times since then.  DH can't soothe him so it's all me.  Exhausted and ready for him to just go down!!

  • DS fights naps, sleeps for about 30 minutes and has woken up at least twice a night for the past week after STTN. I'm adjusting back to it now so it isn't so bad, but man once I started to get 8 hours of sleep a night, it's hard going back to the 2-3 hour sleeping spurts!

  • Oh no!!!  I am dealing with this now... don't tell me I have to do this AGAIN in 4 weeks.  My arms are ready to fall off, they are so sore from the past few days.

  • Its awful!! I have to fight him for up to an hour sometimes to take a nap, and by the end of the day hes so overtired from fighting his naps its a hugeeeeee multi-hour process to get this child to sleep. Then even though he only wakes once a night, he decides its time to get up for the day at 3am, so its a whole long process all over again in the middle of the night to put him back to sleep! I cant wait for month 5!
