Uterine artery cut during csection

I am wondering if anyone else went through this. I ended up with an emergency csection after hrs of Pitocin. When we got in OR my little girls hr went to 60 so they had to get her out quickly.  They ended up accidentally cutting my uterine artery bc they had to move so quickly. My husband didn't get to come in until after she was delivered, I had other issues too bc my placenta had begun to fail early.  So I am wondering if it is going to affect future pregnancies even though they repaired the cut to the artery.

Re: Uterine artery cut during csection

  • When I delivered DS it was by c-section after 30 hours of labour, I was on pitocin and ended up getting the epidural.  DS was 10lbs 2oz and when they pulled him out they tore into a major artery, now they never said it was the uterine artery, just that it was a major artery.  I was told at the time that I would have to wait at least 18 months before having another baby.  The doctor who delivered DS wasn't too specific if I had to wait 18 months to get pregnant or deliver and I was very concerned about this because we had planned on having our kids close together, but when I saw my OB for the first time when I was pregnant with #2 he was nothing but happy for us (we had fertility issues the first time) and not concerned at all.

I would ask when you go for your 6 week check up if you haven't already had it, but I would think that as long as they are not too close and your body has time to heal you should be fine.
