I'm not sure when you are allowed to give this to kids. When I was a baby my first solid food was Crabs. I'm from Maryland and, well, that's what we do in the summer. Anyone give your LO's shellfish yet? Are you planning on doing it anytime soon?
We are from Maryland too, and LO just had his first taste of crabs last weekend! He loves them ! He is almost 11 months and we have no allergies on either side. Just watch for reactions and enjoy!
At DSs 9 month check up his pedi gave us the green light to feed him anything. She didn't mention honey, but it's something I won't give him yet anyways. She specifically said strawberries, and peanuts/peanut products were ok. She said that the research she has seen shows that babies are less likely to develop allergies if they are exposed sooner. We don't do seafood at home (no experience cooking it and I want to don't ruin it and have to throw it and lots of $$ in the trash), and we haven't taken LO to a restaurant yet so I haven't had any to give to him, but he will try it as soon as we get the chance.

My pedi hasn't said anything about witholding the shellfish thankfully I love seafood and I hope baby does too!
Our boy has eaten crab and he liked it! lol I will be trying other things eventually but I do want to take it slow. We don't have allergies on either side but baby does have sensitive skin so want to make sure we just keep it at that
I agree with OP, if there is no significant allery history, I would go for it. I know some pedis recommend waiting, so if you are worried check with yours.
I have given LO crab, shrimp and scallops so far. She loves it. I agree with all the PP, as long as there aren't any allergies in your family, I would go for it. FWIW, our pedi gave the go-ahead on everything but honey and egg whites until 1 year.

Re: Anyone give their LO's shellfish yet?
That's what my Pedi said too. I figure there are millions of babies in Asian eating raw fish, so a little cooked crab couldn't hurt.
