Ian has arrived

May 22nd 2012 - 3:51pm

I was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning at 6:30 and got my IV. 7:30am the doctor checked me and said I was 5cm dialated and 80% effaced. She then attempted to break my water, but since he was so low all she could do was poke a few holes in it to get it to leak and have more pressure on the baby. Doctor and nurse estimated birth before noon and at most an 8lb baby (Isaac was 6lbs, 6oz).

I progressed extremely slowly. I got the epidural around 11am at 6cm and had it uped again around 2pm at almost 9cm. Needless to say upping the dose did not work. I had a cathedar placed when I was at 7cm since I was progressing slowly and proceeded to complain about baby putting pressure on the cathedar. So, around 1pm they took it out. Yay!

I started pushing close to 3pm. I was crowning for 30minutes. Talk about the "ring of fire" I almost died seriously. Labor and pregnancy is TRULY different with each baby. This time I was whining and couldn't get a good enough breath for the 2,3, & 4 pushes during the contraction.

Anyways, little mister Ian..... decided to come out sunny side up (right side above forehead) with his head tilted crooked and the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck THREE times. No wonder he wasn't coming out. But that's not all.... he was 9 1/2 pounds! I was seriously ready for the doctor to cut him out of me anyway possible.

Baby Ian: 9lbs 6oz 21in
He looks just like his daddy, but has mommy and Isaac's nose.

Here's a picture of Ian ready to go home. Then a picture of Isaac giving Ian a fist bump in my Siggy picture.
