Odd but cute things grandparents do with LO

My husband and I were just talking about every time his dad sees Bo he places his hat on his head and says "Look who is wearing grandpa's hat". It is huge on him; FIL gets a kick out of it. I just think it is funny that every.single.time he sees Bo he does this! We have a gazillion pictures of it!

My dad will get in Bo's face and baby talk "uuggaabuuugggaa" and blow his coffee breath in the baby's face. Bo loves it!

My mother is very in to all things Polish.  My niece, her oldest grandchild was "the Pupie" (not poop-ie...can't figure out how to translate pronunciation here).  Since my daughter is the second grandchild, she is "the Pupa".  My father, who is known to make up words (nafgan - afghan, buffeT  -buffet) insists on calling her the same, Pupies, as my niece.  Every single effing time, my mother corrects him as if he doesn't know.  And out of the corner of his eye, he always gives me a wink.

My father in law, who is certifiably insane, but very warm hearted, pretty much only tells A he is going to steal her thumb (she's a thumbsucker).  8 months, and all the man has said is he's going to steal her #1 object of comfort.  That should bode well for their future relationship.

My dad keeps telling Q to stay out of his pockets although Q doesn't know that pockets exist yet. It comes from when i was very little an used to try to steal stuff out of his pockets when he was napping.

  • My step grandfather, B's Great Poppy, always asks her if she wants a cookie or a quarter. I always remind him that quarters are no longer a great incentive for kids, and with inflation, he needs to offer at least a dollar.

  • My mom takes Jacob for "basket rides" she puts him in the laundry basket and goes all around the house ad they put the clothes away- he loves it! B
