Rough Internal

Has anyone had any success from a rough internal?  My doc was a bit rough this am to try to get things going just wondering if anyone had any luck with that in their experience?

    With DD, I had a fluid check exam due to a suspected slow high leak. They insert one or two fingers into your nicely dilated cervix to make sure there's plenty of fluid around the head. It hurt like HADES. Within 18 hours, I was in labor. Whether that exam had anything to do with it or not, I'll never know.  But, I've always wondered.

    My doc did this yesterday morning.  I had contractions all day yesterday and overnight up until this morning when they stopped.  I was wondering yesterday if it was going to be 'go time', but nope.  I'm curious as to whether all of those contractions helped to dilate me further or not.
