Went to my 39 week appointment...doctor says they want me to come back in on Wednesday and they are going to check my cervix (1st time ever) & said that if my cervix is ready & already dilated they are going to have me come in Thursday (my due date) to be induced.. (I think when they said that, that was my holy sh*@ moment..where it hit me) kept telling DH this time next week we may very well have a baby...ahh..
Of course I'm going to ask my dr Wednesday if they decide to what's the steps in inducing & what should I expect.. but was wanting to ask people who've been induced what was their process? Do i come in & they automatically break my water or do they start me on meds first & than break my water? Right now I'm incredibly nervous.. & scared...terrified for the whole process of labor/being induced & than having a baby..

Its really going to depend on where your progress is at. If you have none they will probably start you the night before on a gel or pill or one of those balloon things to dilate and soften your cervix. If your already softened and dilated then they may just start you on pitocin. Ive never heard of them breaking your water first they usually wait till you've been on pitocin a while.
Ive never been induced, but will be this time a day or two before I hit 41 weeks because my practice doesn't like you going over that. Some practices don't like you going over your due date. They can also decide to induce you if your blood pressure is creeping up or you have GD.
If you are dilated try having sex! That might do the trick before they have to induce you
I'm due on Tuesday, dilated 1 cm, 60% effaced, but am going to try and get things going with a little nooky...although it really is the last thing I want to do right now...Not exactly feeling sexy!
