So we finally figured out WHY we are having so much trouble getting pregnant this time; DH's sperm analysis shows that he has low normal forms. Since he only has 2% regular shaped sperm, we only have a 2% chance of getting pregnant on our own. The doctor now has him going to see a urologist (I'm not sure what they do?), but she suggests we try insemination. I guess I'm glad to know what the problem is. Anyone else in the same boat?
Re: Abnormal sperm analysis **siggy warning**
There are plenty of ladies on here who are dealing with MFI and I'm sure they will be a great resource! I'm so sorry that his results came back lower than you hoped.....but 2% is still something! I know there are ladies with low morph levels (morphology= the shape) How was his motility and count?
Also, on this board, it's common etiquette to put *****siggy warning*** if you have a picture of your child in your siggy. Majority of the women on this board are trying to conceive their first child, so it can be hard to see pics of other kiddos. So on a bad day, they may skip the posts with siggy warnings.
There is a secondary IF board for women who are having trouble with number 2 (or 3.....4...)
Good luck!
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I'll move over to the other board. Thanks.
Why does everyone take the "please post a siggy warning" as an unspoken "get out of here, we don't like your kind?" Stay, maybe visit secondary IF to see where you feel you fit in better, just add a siggy warning to your title! Think of it as the dinner jacket required to eat in 3T.
And maybe a warning about people in giant kitty costumes, too...or that could just be me.
In answer to your question, my understanding is that a "normal" morphology count (the "normal" shaped sperm) is above 4%. There is a fair amount of debate in the medical community as to the importance of morphology. Some docs feel it matters more, some don't think it matters at all. But you should be assured that a 2% morph count does NOT mean you only have a 2% chance of conceiving. A lot depends on what else is going on. 2% of 20 million is much different than 2% of 100 million, for example.

Hi there! We have morph issues as well, but our other numbers dont compensate for us. If the count and motility is high, 2% morph shouldn't be a big deal. If that is the only issue you're facing, you have way more than a 2% chance of conceiving on your own. In fact, if the count/motility are above average, then you shouldn't have any issues conceiving on your own.
How many months of timed intercourse have you done trying for #2 so far?
Youre certainly welcome here as well as 2IF. Several women post on both boards.
That's not what that means.

This. Morphology is a key but not the only key component for SA. Do you know motility numbers and count. You will definitely want to seek out a urogologist specializing in fertility and most likely have a repeat SA.
There are many women on this board dealing with MFI.

Oh no no! Don't leave! I just wanted to let you know that that is common etiquette around here! You're totally welcome to stay!
FWIW, babies in siggies don't really bother me, but if it helps other 3T ladies, I'm cool with it as a guideline. We want this to be a safe place for all of us!
I don't know how she can say that for certain. The health of his sperm could have changed between when you were TTC your DD and now.

I concur. It shouldn't be a crime to already be a mother, seriously.
I swear, you are reading my mind! We must be kindred spirits.
