I got a new job and our insurance is changing, and I don't know that I'll have any fertility coverage under the new plan, so I wanted to get in one last consultation. I thought it would take a month to get in, but they had a cancelation and snuck me in this week.
The m/c is almost over, I am hoping for a negative beta tomorrow. We are not ready to try again and don't plan to, but were interested in some RPL testing to see if we can get some answers. I also wanted to see what the RE thinks may be causing the miscarriages.
I could ask about donor egg and/or IVF, I guess, but we feel like we're pretty much done trying. I guess I see this as a fertility treatment wrap-up instead of a planning session for the future.
Any thoughts? Questions to ask? TIA

Re: I have an appointment with my RE and I'm not sure what to do
Do you know your REs thoughts on immune issues? If I were you and I wanted some answers, I think that's where I'd turn next. Have you given any more thought to the e.tegrity test?
Also, maybe more info on DE and/or IVF will help you make the decision. If you're not confident that you don't want to try any other treatment, additional information can only be helpful in getting you to the point where you can make a decision you're comfortable with.

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for.

Hi, I agree that you should ask about immune / clotting testing. If your RE won't do the RPL testing, your general practice dr or ob-gyn can order for you. Given that you have had 3 MC now, you definitely qualify by insurance standards.
There are several layers to the amount of immune testing that you can get. The most basic level, the starting point, if you will ,can be ordered by any dr. Its 1 box on a standard lab work sheet. If you want more info on immune testing, let me know and I'd be happy to share with you.
I don't think you have done an IVF before, correct? I would ask RE to outline the protocol and drugs he recommends for you. Ask him what to expect and what your % chance is to take home a baby if you used IVF with own eggs. Costs? Do you qualify for a guarantee program?
I would ask about the donor egg program too. Where do they get donors from? How do you view donor profiles? Costs of program? Waiting times to start? Is there a guarantee program? Statistics for that clinic success? Statistics specifically for you?
Sent a PM too.
I don't have any advice since we are in the same place pretty much ... but am curious to hear how it goes and what your RE's responses and thoughts are!!
Good luck Sarah, I'll be thinking of you!!
p.s. - congrats on the new job!!!

I agree 100% with AmCheri and Jessica. Thinking of you, Sarah, and hoping the appointment provides you with some insight.
Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.
IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.
Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

Thank you all for the ideas and kind words.
A little update: I finally got a negative beta on Wednesday and then saw the doctor Thursday (yesterday). As usual, nothing goes as expected. She surprised us by being very encouraging and said she really wants us to keep trying. We are doing a million tests (including hysteroscopy, which I know little about) to see if we can find a reason for the m/cs, and we are now considering trying again while starting the adoption process -- that's extremely important to me because I feel like I don't want to "lose" more time to TTC. My younger sister has also offered to donate eggs, so that's something we're learning more about, too.
