How much/often is your 7 wk FF LO eating?

DS is now up to 4oz of formula,  but still eats every 3 hrs (except at night). He usually sleeps from 10pm to 2:30 or 3am then eats 4 oz and then sleeps until 6am and eats again. During the day he still wants to eat every 3 hrs. He is EFF.  A friend told me he should be eating every 4-5 hrs by now since he takes only formula. Is that true???? TIA!

  • My son is only 6 weeks but he is basically on the same schedule. Ryder eat 3.5 to 4oz every 2.5 to 3 hrs during the day and sleeps from 930p-2a

  • At 8 weeks DD1 was 4-6 oz. every 3 to 4 hours and would give us a nice 5 to 6 hr. stretch at night.  We lucked out with her.  She was on Simi Advance and LOVED IT!

DD2 is still only takign 2 to 4 oz. every 2-4 hours.  Despite being on Alimentum and given gas drops she still fights every bottle but doesn't spit up because she takes the small amounts.  For the past few nights it has been-

    8:30- 2 to 4 oz.

11 or 12- 2 to 4 oz. (try to do as a dream feed)

    3 am- 2 oz.

    Up at 6am.

I think she is hitting her 6 week growth spurt late becuase recently she has been wanting 3 oz.  I usually make the bottles 2 oz. at a time since when I make 4oz. she only wants 2oz.  When I make 2 she suddently wants 4.

  • My 5 week old EFF is eating 4 oz every 4 hours.  He has gone every 4 hours from birth though.  That was just the schedule he set.  The last couple days he has given us 5 hours during the night.  He'll take a bottle around 11:30 sleep until 4:30/4:45, take a bottle and sleep again until 8/8:15 and take another bottle and then he's up for the day.

  • LO takes 6 oz every 4 hours during the day but during the night will go 5-6 hours between feedings..  Goes to bed between 8-9, up around 2 and back to bed til 6-7 and then up for the am.

  • S was eating 4 oz every 3 hours; we got him up to 5-6 oz and he now goes 3.5 hours during the day and two 5 hours stretches at night.  I'd offer an extra ounce, and if he eats it, continually give 5 ounces and stretch him an extra 30 minutes to an hour
  • DD has been eating 5 oz four several weeks now. She is just past 10 weeks, so it was around 7 weeks when we had to go up to 5 oz. At night, we put a little rice cereal in her formula (we use a formula scoop and put half a scoop). She takes six bottles a day, and three of them have the cereal. She eats every 3-4 hours during the day, and then every 5-6 hours at night. The longest she has gone has been 7 hours, once. Try giving him 4.5 oz or put rice cereal in, but I don't think there is anything abnormal about eating every 3 hours. My mom said I slept through the night at 3 weeks, but they were told to give us an 8 oz bottle before bed time, and both my DDs would spew that much formula everywhere at that age. I think they also blew cigarette smoke in our faces back then too.

  • My LO has been STTN for about two weeks now. Say it's a fluke if you want... whatever lol. It's what she does. Anyways... during the day she eats 4 oz every 3 hours and her first feeding of the day she eats 6 oz since she's gone at least 10, sometimes more, hours without eating. When she wasn't STTN, she was up every 3 hours. I think you're totally fine with feeding your LO every 3 hours. They will eat when they're hungry! :)
