How far in advance of your due date are you planning on having your baby shower? What if you aren't planning a whole nursery - should you still have a shower way in advance?

    I'm having my first shower on Saturday because my family lives 6 hours away and I won't be able to travel for too long.  I'm 28 weeks.  My shower where I live will be in January and I'm due Feb. 19th.  I think that if someone wants to throw you a shower, that's great!  Enjoy it, even if you aren't having a nursery. There's still stuff they can buy-car seat, clothes, diapers, etc.

    I had my first shower two weeks ago, and have another shower next weekend. Mine we're planned around when people would be in town, holidays and trying to avoid winter weather. I registered for nursery items, but most everything I have gotten so far were not nursery items.

    My EDD is May 4th and my 1st shower will be end of March-ish.  MIL is planning my second shower for right after that, so beg of April-ish.  To me, that is kind of cutting it close but its her decision and I can guarantee you, it doesn't matter what I say- she will be running the show the way SHE wants to.  (Yes, I have a control-freak MIL)

    I will be 30 weeks.  We already have our cribs, the room is painted (we're just not changing the office color), and we know our bedding.  We're having it at 30 weeks because I'm having twins and hope that that is early enough that I will make it to the shower.
