F/U So Frustrated

Today was the worst day yet.  Literally, screamed ALL day.  I took his temperature probably 10 times convinced that there was something wrong.  I let him CIO for ten minutes in his crib because he cried no matter what I did and now I feel so terribly guilty about it.  I thought it was supposed to get better around 12 weeks?!?

Right Hug Shizz. Take him to the doctor JUST to be sure there is no ear infection or something you can't see? I'm sorry. I just wanted to put one of these little hug guys on the thread for you. I just learned how.

Keep on keepin on, girl. It will pass!

  • Thank you.  I need a hug as DH has worked ALL day and won't get home until 11:00 tonight.  My mom usually can help out but she has an endoscopy tomorrow so she is preparing for that tonight (no fun for her).  If things don't look up tomorrow we are definitely on our way to the doctor.

  • Oh no!  So sorry to hear your day went so horribly.  Poor you, and poor little guy.

Have you thought about taking him to the pedi?  I know you've taken his temperature many, many times, but maybe it's something else?  You're right ... it's usually suppose to get better as they get older, not worse.  And screaming all day just doesn't feel right to me.

Don't feel guilty about letting him CIO ... you needed a well deserved break and that was the only way to get it!  I can't imagine the frustration you must be feeling ... I get worked up with only 10 mins of crying (not even screaming).

Did he at least wake up happy?  I know you've posted about his lack of napping. Could it be an accumulation of sleep deprivation?

  • I'm pretty sure it is all related to his sleep deprivation but... I don't know how to make that better! :(

I would say 90% of the time DS's cries are screams. :(  After his naps today he would wake up and be happy for about half an hour and then it was fussy.  Then I would try to soothe him which just escalated him and it would be screamfest 2012.

  • So sorry!!!  It's so tough when they are so cranky!  Don't be so hard on yourself.

  • Poor girl :( I'm sorry and I know how terrible those days are. DS had colic. Here are some techniques I read in the happiest baby on the block... They worked 80% of the time for me:

Try holding him tightly on his side, rolled a little bit toward his belly. (either on your lap or in your arms) If he's in your arms, have him face outwards and shake quickly like you are super nervous or are shivering. Don't be afraid to be vigorous because his head is supported. Keep it up for a few mins and see if it helps. If he is on your lap, quickly rock your legs from side to side like a wind shield wiper. He's supposed to jiggle a little bit like a jello jiggler.

I really hope it passes for you soon... For DS it passed around 12-13 weeks, so hopefully you are almost there!

  • I'm sorry momma. Don't feel guilty. Some times you need to take a minute to calm yourself.
Do you have a swing for him? When DD is overtired and screaming and won't nap, I put her in her swing. It usually stops the screaming and eventually she can't resist falling asleep.

  • Aww, that sucks!!! It does sound like a growth spurt. My boy did the same thing around that time, it is trying but it will pass...  wouldn't it be nice if we all lived close to eachother so we can all help one another?

YES!  If I knew how to put a thumbs up in this post, I would be doing that!

Just an update to our night.  He woke up after 2 hours, I fed him and then he screamed.  DH rocked him back to sleep.  After that, we were still up every 2 hours but he went down without a fight.  Was up bright and early at 6:30 this morning again!
