XP: BFing Question

I posted this on the BFing board, but wanted to ask here as well.

For the last 2 days, it seems like LO has had an insatiable appetite! She is only 8 days old, so I kind of just attribute it to a growth spurt, but she never seems to get full! 2 days ago, my breasts were engorged and I was having to pump in between feedings, but now I'm not sure I'd even have anything to pump.

Also, it seems like EVERY TIME we change her diaper, she turns right around and blows it out again. Her stool has already turned to the yellow seedy consistency that it's supposed to, but she's starting to get diaper rash from pooping so much. I don't want to leave her in a dirty diaper because of that, but she is seriously pooping as soon as we get a clean diaper on her! Is this pretty normal? Any tips or suggestions?

    It sounds pretty normal, like you said it is probably a growth spurt. It's really common around 7-10 days and it will probably last a few days. One of those things that you just kind of have to wait out, hang in there!

    My DS has been doing the same thing.  Usually in the late afternoons/evenings he is on my breasts constantly.  He also poops constantly and frequently after we just change him so I think it's normal.  Breastmilk is digested quickly so I think that explains frequent pooping.

    Definitely sounds normal! And your LO is absolutely getting enough milk if she's pooping and peeing all the time.

    sounds normal. My newest is very similar to this. The pooping every 5 minutes has really leveled out now.  But get a good bum cream and use it on her everytime. I use penaten.

    We're going through the same thing with Georgia and she is 2 days older than your LO.  Totally normal, but crazy, I know. Not sure how many diapers we go through each day. LOL!
