baby powder is not the best thing to use because of inhalation but if you must, cornstarch would work the same. As for diaper cream, I really like CJs Butter.

Thank you! I did read about the "talc" in baby powder...thought maybe organic baby powder might be okay. Looks like I will be skipping it all in all. I will definitely look into CJ's Butter.
Otopia is one of my favorite brands for safe baby products. I bought their diaper cream and it has made such a difference.. not a bad price for organic either.
I agree with PP about not using baby powder, but corn starch works wonders!! That is all I've ever used on my daughter and haven't needed anything else. At the first sign of redness I would put a little organic corn starch on her bottom and the redness was gone by the next morning. I didn't have to use it often but it really does work great. My mom swore by it and now I guess I do too
